I want to officially pre-apologize to those who really like mice, squirrels, rats and rabbits. I just couldn't help myself!!!
Also, for the life of me I just couldn't think of a cute nick-name that Anya might call Konstantin. If anyone has a suggestion, that would be great.
Hope you enjoy. :)

Konstantin is sitting on the edge of a grass hill. He glances up at the night sky.
The grass is slightly cool to the touch.
gKonstantin?h
He smiles as she calls his name and looks over his shoulder.
gHere Anya.h
She walks through the grass and sits down beside him.
gWhat are you doing?h She asks.
He looks at her.
gJust taking a break from the house. Its kind of busy in there right now.h
She nods.
gI will leave if youch
gNo. Please stay,h he replies.
She blushes and smiles.
Konstantin lies back in the grass and places both hands under his head.
She flops on her back beside him.
gOh, look,h Anya says and points her arm into the air.
gHm?h
gSee there, that is Squeak the Lucky. He is the only mouse to never be caught.h
gOh.h
gAnd over there. That is the Great Hunter. See how his paw is outstretched? And those little stars in front of him, that is his prey trying to get away.h
gAh.h
gAnd those stars there? That is Snarls the Guardian. He guards us all from harm.h
gI see,h he replies.
gOhhh Konstantin look. A shooting star!h she says.
He follows her arm.
gHmm Anya, I think that is an airplane.h
gOh?h She watches the blinking lights as they move away.
He asks, gAnya?h
She turns on her side and looks at him.
gYes?h
gWhat was your childhood like?h
gIt was wonderful. All my brothers and sisters and I would play all sorts of games.h
gWhat kind of games?h
gOh, like chase the mouse. Capture the squirrel,h she says. She pauses as she looks into her past. gIt was so fun. We would have contests to see who could catch the most rats in an hour. I always won.h
She laughs. gIt used to make my brother so mad. One time he got so mad, I caught twelve and he only caught one, anyway, he was so mad that he coughed up a large hair ball.h She sighs. gWe laughed so hard for hours about that.h
He smiles and shakes his head at the image.
gI see,h he says.
gWhat kind of games did you play?h
gI used to play soccer.h
gSoccer?h
gYeah,h he replies. gIt is a game where you have to kick a ball down a field. You try to keep the ball away from the other team and score a goal...h
gOh! We had a ball game like that,h she interrupts.
gOh?h
gYes. We had a clear plastic ball. And we would put a mouse in it. And the mouse would run and we would chase the ball over the field.h
gErr. Yeah?h
gYes! Whoever got the ball got to eat the mouse. But you had to keep the ball away from the others.h She sighs again at her memories.
gI see.h He does not know whether to smile or cry.
She asks, gWhat else did you play?h
gAh, well, we played football. You have to run a ball down a field and cross this line. And you can pass the ballch
gWe had the same game!h She says. She laughs and claps her hands. gOnly it wasnft a ball but a rabbit. And you could throw the rabbit to others on your team.h
gDid you kick the rabbit over two uprights to score points?h he asks.
gOh yes,h she replies. gThatfs why you always had to have lots of rabbits.h
He is silent for a moment. His heart is beating fast as he thinks.
gDid you have baseball?h he asks fearful of the answer.
gBaseball?h she pauses. gHmm. No. I donft think so.h
gWhew,h he whispers.
gHuh?h
He clears his throat. gWell. In baseball you have a bat and you have to hit a ball that is thrown at you. If you hit it, you run three bases and try to return to the home plate. If you make it, you are safe. Safe at home.h
He glances at her by his side.
She is very thoughtful.
gThat is a very strange game Konstantin,h Anya replies.
He laughs out loud. gYeah. I suppose so.h
She moves closer to him and rests her head on his bicep.
He half turns and pulls his other arm from under his head. He rubs her shoulder in the cool fall air.
gMew.h
He looks at her face.
Her eyes are very wide and her smile is so pure.
He cannot help but smile back. He can feel a deep soothing rumble coming from her.
He strokes her hair and she snuggles into his arms deeper. She closes her eyes.
Konstantin sighs in the night air.
She opens her eyes.
gWhat are you thinking Konstantin?h
His smile is very wide. He blushes.
gHow pretty you are, my Anya.h
gMew.h
gAnd,h he almost laughs. gHentai.h
She giggles, gnaughty.h
He hugs her tightly against him.
gMew.h
A shooting star falls.
